Rihanna was bestowed with the most desired award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards – Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The award regarded as MTV’s most prestigious award at the 2016 Video Music Awards was presented to the pop-sweetheart by Drake for her remarkable impacts on music, pop culture, fashion, film and philanthropy.
While on the stage for the presentation, Drake gave a powerfully sweet speech that had us wishing these two will just tie the knot.
He began by remembering his first encounter with the Barbadian singer—in 2005 while working as an extra on her “Pon de Replay” music video
He continued, hitting us right in our hearts as he lauded her sense of style and her ability to remain true to herself.
“We love the music, which can change styles from album to album. “We love the videos which change their artistic vision from year to year. But most of all, we love the woman who hasn’t changed from day one”, he says.
And more touching, he said the L-word… and it got the crowd roaring in admiration.
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22-years-old. She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her, even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry. Ladies and gentleman, the recipient of the 2016 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Rihanna!”
Did Drake Finally Seal His Speech With A Ring?
Between his term of endearment and his nice-looking suit, many waited for the heart-melting moment when Drake will propose to Rihanna would follow.
However, he didn’t make the “marry me request” though he did try to give her a kiss on the mouth, and she, um, went for the cheek instead.
But fans were heartbroken and they reacted alike on twitter.
