Athletes have a wide potential of breaking the law and some athletes like other big celebrities have done so. While some might have escaped with the crime, some others got hooked, dumping their names in the bins. Maybe, when you have half of your needs readily available, shower in expensive bathrooms, sleep on luxury mattrass, wear just about every designer’s work, it’s easy to feel unbeatable.

However, not for these big names in sports. Many of them are suffering because of their careless actions. We are not sure if they have repented from their sadistic acts of crime but we know that they clearly don’t like the idea of being forgotten in jail.

Mookie Blaylock

Ex-NBA player, Blaylock Mookie received a 15-year jail term for vehicular homicide and other charges for the death of Monica Murphy. The pronouncement came after Blaylock pleaded guilty of a head-on collision in Clayton County on May 31, 2013.

Aaron Hernandez

Hernandez is an ex-American football supremely-praised tight end. He shone under the tutelage of Bill Belichick but was later shattered by legal tribulations and volatile moods. Hernandez was indicted by a grand jury for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player, in June 2013.

He was also indicted for the 2012 double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado the following year. Later on, Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder in the Odin Lloyd case in 2015. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without any chance of parole at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Centre. He remains in jail till date and not many still talk about him!

OJ Simpson

OJ Simpson used to be a celebrated footballer, broadcaster as well as an actor. The ex-National Football League star and actor emitted nothing short of courage and had his way of pushing into the end-zone. However, his life experienced a sudden change when he was tried on two counts of murder for June 12, 1994, deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and a friend of hers, a restaurant waiter, Ron Goldman. He  was able to slip through the grips of justice for the murder of his wife. Nonetheless, he was arrested in 2008 for many criminal charges, armed robbery and kidnapping. He’s currently serving a 33-year prison sentence.

Rae Carruth

Rae Carruth, is a former professional American football player, a  big receiver for the Carolina Panthers of the NFL. He wore the blue and  black jersey of the Carolina Panthers for two years before being netted into a brutal murder case. He was found guilty of plotting to have a woman with his child killed. He’s scheduled to leave prison in 2018.

Javaris Crittenton

Years after the manslaughter sentence, former NBA Jarvis Crittenton seems to have been erased in our memories. The basketball player’s trouble started when a gun was found in a locker room he shared with his teammate Gilbert Arenas. In 2011, he was charged with the killing Jullian Jones, a mother of four while allegedly trying to kill a man who robbed him.

He pleaded guilty of the crime. Then, while he was still on bail, police caught him with hundred pounds of marijuana. Having being found guilty of the crime, he is now facing 23 years in jail which was issued in 2015.

Sam Hurd

EX-Bear Sam Hurd was not the most loved by the police. The former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League for six seasons was seen as “a wannabe drug lord.” Hurd allegedly started dealing drugs while he was in the league and was later convicted of drug trafficking. He is currently serving his 15-year term in a Texas penitentiary.

Keon Clark

Arian Keon Clark is another ex-NBA player spending some good time in jail. The defensive stopper was foud guilty of driving under the influence and weapon crimes. He is still serving his 8 years jail term at East Moline Correctional Center in East Moline, IL.
