Who is Annabel Bowlen?

The iconic lady is an American skater and teacher, who came into the limelight following her marriage to the owner of Denver Broncos club of the National Football league (NFL), Pat Bowlen. Along with her husband, Bowlen is one of the managers of the Denver-based football team which has won seven AFC Championship titles since their inception as well as three Super Bowl Championships among others. In addition to that, Annabel is also a well-known philanthropist and a founding member of Cherish the Children Guild charity organization.

Annabel Bowlen Bio and Age

Bowlen was born Joan Annabel Spencer on November 16, 1952, in Edmonton, Canada. Her mother Joan Spencer is a retired British Secretary while her father was a pilot during the Second World War. She holds a Canadian nationality and belongs to the white ethnic origin. However, nothing much is known about her childhood, family, and parents. She grew up along with her brother Richard Spencer, who is the current owner and CEO of Spencer Environmental Services. Also, she attended the University of Alberta where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

Upon graduation, Bowlen started her career as an elementary school teacher in Canada. Being an avid skater, she went on to become a skating trainer which she combined with her teaching job. She came into the limelight following her marriage to Pat Bowlen who is a successful Canadian attorney. After their marriage, the couple moved over to Denver in 1984; there they procured the Denver Broncos football team from its former owner Edgar Kaiser Jr. in the same year.

The Bowlens’ have seen to the affairs of the football team for over thirty years. With his exceptional management skills, Pat Bowlen was able to lead the team to win the AFC championship for seven times as well as the Super Bowl for three times. While he was taking the Broncos to the next level, his wife became a philanthropist and championed several charity causes.

Annabel Bowlen founded a charity organization known as Cherish the Children Guild in 1969. The organization serves as the charity arm of the Beacon Youth & Family Center. She served as their president until 2011 when she dropped her position following her husband’s ill health. Annabel went on to manage the Broncos in the absence of her husband. Employing great management skills, Bowlen was able to give her best to the club knowing that her husband had devoted his whole life to building Denver Broncos.

Interestingly, since her husband took over the club in 1984, they have recorded the highest winning percentage than the rest of the teams in the NFL. He was inducted into the Broncos’ Hall of Fame in 2015. Aside Denver Broncos, Bowlen’s husband is also a co-owner of Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League as well as the owner of the Denver Outlaws of the Major League Lacrosse.

Annabel’s husband stepped down from being the Principal owner of the Broncos after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He made this revelation in 2014 and since then, Annabel has been managing all his business ventures.

In addition to her successful philanthropy career; Annabel Bowlen and her husband Pat have been experiencing a blissful married life for over four decades. They were blessed with five children – three daughters; Annabel Bowlen, Brittany, Christiana, and two sons; Patrick Bowlen and John Bowlen.

Just like her husband, Annabel Bowlen disclosed on June 27, 2018, that she has been diagnosed with the Alzheimer’s disease too. She also announced that she would be stepping down as the Principal Manager of her husband’s business. There are speculations that her second older daughter Brittany Bowlen will be taking charge as the frontrunner of the company. She is an MBA holder from Duke University and has previously worked as an analyst with the Broncos team.
